After a summer full of intense weight training and preparation for the upcoming fall football season, first-year Parsons head coach Marc Svaty is rewarding his seniors, as well as some hard-working cross country athletes, with a much-needed vacation.

WICHITA — Labette County High School’s Garett Britton won the state title in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles Saturday at the Class 4A state track and field meet here, while St. Paul’s Jenny O’Bryan won the state title in the 3200 meter run on Friday night.

FORT SCOTT — Labette County High School defeated Coffeyville here Monday to earn a chance to play the No. 1 seed Independence in the Class 4A regional here.

COLUMBUS — The Parsons Lady Vikings softball team ended its season here Monday in the Class 4A regional tournament. Frontenac defeated Parsons 12-1 to advance.

CHANUTE — Labette County High School finished in second place at the Southeast Kansas League golf meet in Chanute Thursday. Parsons finished in eighth place.
