BAXTER SPRINGS — Avenging an earlier loss in the campaign, the Labette County Grizzlies defeated the Baxter Springs Lions, 9-4, on Thursday.
It marked the first loss of the season for Baxter Springs and served as Labette County’s revenge for a 14-3 loss to the Lions on March 28.
“We played extremely well tonight,” Labette County head coach Hanna Haraughty said. “My girls came out ready to play and stayed consistent throughout. We hit the ball very well down the whole lineup. Great win.”
Kayton O’Brien had four hits and as many runs in the leadoff spot for the Grizzlies.
Lily Beery, who had three hits and two RBIs, fanned 11 batters over seven innings in the circle for Labette County.
Audrey Dewey and Linsey Dickerson added two hits apiece for Labette County.
With the win, Labette County improved to 3-4 on the season.
Labette County hosts Girard on Tuesday.
