HUMBOLDT — Erie High School rolled to what appeared to be an easy win Friday, defeating Humboldt 51-38.

The Red Devil boys had a 17-7 lead after the first quarter and maintained that at 24-22 by halftime. Erie outscored Humbolt in the last half to get the win.

Eric Dillinger scored 27 points to pace Erie. Mark Bogner scored 11, hitting three 3-pointers in the effort.

“I thought we were pretty solid on the defensive end throughout most of the night,” Erie boys coach Nick Pfeifer said. “Offensively we were a little inconsistent but thought we did a much better job attacking in the second half. We need to continue to improve as we head into February and before you know it sub-state.”

IN THE GIRLS game, Erie lost to Humboldt 39-37. Humboldt outscored Erie by 3 points in the final quarter for the home win.

Skylar Clevenger scored 11 points to pace Erie.

“We didn’t come ready to play tonight,” Erie girls coach Sindy Daniels said. “We looked real sluggish on defense and we didn’t block out. We didn’t crash the boards very well, only getting six offensive rebounds recorded. We shot 5-13 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and was 8-18 for the night.”

With the loss, Erie’s overall record drops to 9-3.

In the JV game, Erie defeated Humboldt 18-15. Emma Duff scored seven to pace the Red Devils.
