To The Sun:
Former Parsonian wunderkind-turned Verizon lawyer-turned FCC chairman/amateur comedian Ajit Pai has churned out another yucker for our enjoyment, this time in a video where he plays the part of a “Manchurian Candidate” across from real-life Verizon Senior Vice President Kathleen Grillo. A must see.
Isn’t it great that a hometown-boy-made-good is able to ham it up with his former employer at our expense? That’s funny right there, I don’t care who you are! (And if you’re not an internet service provider lobbyist, neither does Pai!)
It must be difficult for Pai to find time for his craft between dismantling consumer protections, dismissing public comment and preparing to get sued; but give Pai credit. Shafting and mocking those you’re supposed to serve is a delicate art, and Pai has played his audience like one of his fancy fiddles. Bravo!
Encore! More dorky shenanigans to belittle the masses. Whosoever is in contact with Pai, his agent, favored lobbyist, or whoever this public servant works for/listens to, I’d like to pitch a new skit role, right up his alley: a barrator from Dante Alighieri’s “Divine Comedy.”
I won’t spoil the plot, but it’s bound to be the role of a lifetime for Pai, and then some. Almost worth the price of admission to see. — WILLIAM RAMSEY, PHS Class of 1995, Elmhurst, Illinois
