McCUNE — Anna Lee Crane of McCune was born on Sept. 10, 1948, kicking and screaming. She left the earth the same way on the same day in 2021.
Anna was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother and friend to everyone she met. She loved life and lived it her way every day. Anna Lee always offered a listening ear connected straight to her heart, and her friendly hand always extended an invitation to share in her bounties.
Whether she was running the bar, trying her hand at various trades, or working in a retail store, Anna loved to learn new things and innovate the lives of everyone around her. Anna lived an adventurous life, living in many cities and states and she always felt at home where the dog, her family and friends could be found.
Anna is survived by her sisters, Pam and Debra; a brother, Donnie Gilley; as well as her son, Alan Prater and his wife, Alanna; her grandchildren, Matthew, Bradley and Caylee; her daughter, Jessica Prater-Meabon and her husband, Mike Meabon; grandchildren, Jaiden and Jaylen, Katie and Zach and great-granddaughter, Emma; her son, Travis Prater and his wife, Amanda, grandchildren Taya, Ayden, Lanney and Trinity, Emilee, Jesyka, Jaykupm and honorary daughter, Chella Bradley and best chihuahua friend, Oliver. Many friends and family are unnamed here but continue to be important in Anna’s life and legacy.
Anna Lee was preceded in death by her mother, Anna May Cowling; her father, John R. Gilley; her brother, Bob Gilley; her former husband, Jimmy Michael Prater; and her recent husband, John Crane.
A celebration of life service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion in Cherokee.
