Gary W. Boss, 72, of Parsons died at 4:19 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019, at Elmhaven East nursing home. He had been in failing health.
He was born Sept. 8, 1946, in Neodesha to Gailord L. and Wilma Jean (Clifton) Boss. The Boss family moved to Parsons in 1951, and he graduated from Parsons High School in 1964.
Soon after graduation he began employment with the Katy Railroad and spent about 10 years in that work. For a time he operated a FINA service station at 16th and Main and for the next 40 years worked as the owner/operator of a trucking business, driving from coast to coast.
In his youth he became a member of First Christian Church of Parsons. He enjoyed sports of all kinds but especially was a NASCAR fan.
In November 1965 he and Edith Redman were married and they became the parents of three daughters. Later they divorced.
He and Rena Campbell Glick were married on April 23, 1982. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1998.
Gary is survived by his mother, Jean Boss of Parsons; three daughters, Nikki Tippet of Houston, Tracy Ingleman of San Francisco and Kelly Boss of the Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, area; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Doug Boss (Susan) of Parsons and Ron Boss (Tammy) of Wichita; and several nieces and nephews. His father preceded him in death.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Laurie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
