ANDOVER — Christine L. Hood, 69, of Wichita passed away at 2:08 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the Life Care Center in Andover.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1953, at Pittsburg to Leroy H. and Esther C. (Collins) Hood. She grew up at Pittsburg and attended Pittsburg schools. She obtained her general equivalency diploma in 1972.
Christine worked at Pittsburg State University as a custodian. She later moved to Wichita, where she worked at Goodwill Industries in Wichita for many years.
She volunteered at Wesley Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital and the Leukemia Society in Wichita. She was honored as the volunteer of the year of the Leukemia Society in 2002.
Christine enjoyed taking trips to horse races and Star Trek conventions. She enjoyed bowling, board games, bingo, watching TV and trains. She had a love for animals and enjoyed trips to the Wichita zoo. Through the years she adopted several cats.
Christine is survived by her sister, Marian (Hood) Johnson of rural Parsons; her nieces, Lori Ray of Parsons and Sheri Martin and her husband, Mike, of Lawrence; her nephew, Philip Johnson and his wife, Brooke, of Waunakee, Wisconsin; her great-nieces and great-nephews, John Ray of Anchorage, Alaska, Emily Ray of Parsons, Matthew Ray of Parsons, Preston Martin of Overland Park, Lindsay Martin of Topeka, Jackson Martin of Lawrence, Luke and Meridith Johnson of Waunakee, Wisconsin; and her sister-in-law, Sally Lewis of Diamond Harbor, New Zealand.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, William E. “Bill” Hood.
A private family service will be at a later date. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Humane Society, and these may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
