Kathryn S. Giles, 70, of Parsons passed away at 10:46 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at Freeman Health System in Joplin.
Kathryn was born April 13, 1950, at Oswego to Louis G. and Virginia (Hall) Simone. She grew up at Oswego and attended Oswego schools, graduating from Oswego High School in 1968. She attended Pittsburg State, where she studied music.
Kathryn moved to Tulsa and worked at the Tulsa Dermatology Clinic for several years. She moved to Parsons and then to Galesburg, where she worked at Bush Hog. She moved back to Parsons and worked at the Parsons SRS/DCF office as a case manager. Kathryn retired in 2010.
She married Richard L. “Butch” Giles on April 6, 1979, at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2012.
Kathryn enjoyed fishing, music, University of Kansas basketball, cross stitching, traveling, reading, watching classic movies and playing games. She cherished her family and making memories with them.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Seth Giles of Parsons; her sister, Phyllis Fredenburg of Oswego; her niece and nephew, Janet Garbrick of Honolulu, Hawaii, Michael Sailsbury and his wife, Laurie, of McKinney, Texas; her great-nieces, Amanda Walden and her husband, Steve, of Austin, Texas, and Kathryn Barrager and her husband, Marcus, of Honolulu, Hawaii; and several cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
A private graveside service will be at Oswego Cemetery with Pastor Travis Ball officiating. Friends may come to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home to sign the register and view the tribute video. The casket will remain closed.
