Bonnie M. Nickelson, 74, of rural Parsons went home to be with her lord at 10:03 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Labette Health.
Bonnie Mae Richmond was born on April 28, 1946, to Joseph William and Vena Bonita (Clary) Richmond in Vernon County, Missouri. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in the Fort Scott area.
Over the years, Bonnie worked at a number of places in Parsons, including Fred Ronald Manufacturing, Day and Zimmermann, Labette County Medical Center and Ray Products.
In her younger years, she was a member of the Baptist Church in Garland.
On April 18, 1969, she and Gary Leroy Nickelson were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Joe Nickelson of Parsons; a daughter, Debbie Claspill of Plainville, Georgia; a stepson, James Nickelson of Fort Scott; a stepdaughter, Monica Nickelson; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Richmond of Lyndon; and a sister, Shirley Colvin of Garland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandchild.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Friends may call at the funeral home to sign the register from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. The memorial service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
