McCUNE — Wilma J. “Billie” Hinman, 80, of McCune died at 7:51 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2020, at her home.
She was born on March 27, 1940, in Parsons to Nicholas and Frances (Glendenning) Jones. She grew up in Parsons, attended Springhill Country School and graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1957. She attended Labette Community College.
On May 3, 1958, she married Ernest R. “Bud” Hinman in Miami, Oklahoma. They lived in Parsons. Bud preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2006.
After the children were raised, she worked for Ambassador and Hallmark Cards in Parsons. Billie returned to complete her education at LCC, earning an associate of arts degree.
She was an avid reader and served on the McCune Library Board. She enjoyed writing, painting and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Hinman and his wife, Cathy, of McPherson and Greg Hinman of Erie; three daughters, Sandy Hinman of Parsons, Shari Horton and her husband, Sandy, of Pittsburg and Tracy Walker and her husband, Clay, of Oswego; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis Jones of Pittsburg and Dale Jones of Paola; and three sisters, Mary Jo Spurgeon of Fort Scott, Lois Anderson of Girard and Janet Post of Olathe.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Briner.
Friends may sign the register from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
