CHETOPA — Elmer L. Cranor, 94, of Chetopa passed away at 1:09 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
On Aug. 13, 1925, Elmer Lowell Cranor was born to Lewis and Thelma (Tevebaugh) Cranor in Centralia, Oklahoma. As a young boy, Elmer grew up and attended school in the Centralia area.
Elmer joined and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge, he moved to the Edna area, where he farmed and raised livestock. Following his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling. Elmer was a member of the Baptist Church.
He and Evelyn L. Kline were united in marriage on Jan. 11, 1946, in Salisbury, Maryland. She preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 2011.
Survivors include a son, Steve Cranor and his wife, Diane, of Chetopa; three daughters, Jeanie Pemberton and her husband, Danny, of Parsons, Connie Abell and her husband, Robert, of San Antonio and Kay George and her husband, Eddie, of Kansas City, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon Cranor of Cortez, Colorado, and Robert Cranor of Grove, Oklahoma; a sister, Betty Alloway of Altamont; and his special friend, Fran Norton.
The service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will follow at Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
