Ginger McGuire Dixon, 76, of Parsons passed away at 9:09 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at the Parsons Presbyterian Manor.
Jamesine Virginia McGuire was born on Aug. 29, 1946, to James W. and Alice V. (Lewis) McGuire in Columbus. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Cottage Grove, Oregon. In 1961, she moved with her family to Labette County and she attended Labette County Community High School.
In September 1962, Ginger married Raymond E. Dixon Jr. The family settled in the Parsons area and Ginger worked in various jobs, retiring from Labette County Medical Center in 1984 as a respiratory therapist.
As Ginger said herself, “I enjoyed people.” One could tell by the many people she helped by being a caregiver for the elderly, a foster parent and a big sister to many young people. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing bingo. Many families were blessed by the baby blankets she loved to make. She also enjoyed crochet and embroidery.
Survivors include four sons, Eddie Dixon, James Dixon and David Dixon, all of Parsons, and Tim Dixon and his wife, Angie, of Oxford; a foster daughter, Summer MacIntire; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James w. McGuire Jr. and his wife, Connie, of St. Paul and Ronnie McGuire of Erie; a sister, Charlotte Brown of Parsons; her stepfather, Robert Williams of Parsons; two stepbrothers; three stepsisters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, James McGuire; her mother, Alice Williams; her husband, Raymond Dixon, on June 17, 2009; a brother, Raymond McGuire; a sister, Glenna Randell; and a great-grandchild, Coniar.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
