Carol J. Winslow, 90, of Parsons passed away on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons. She had been living with Parkinson’s disease for the past several years.
She was born on Dec. 31, 1932, in Cherryvale, the fifth child of Elsie Mae (Hucke) and Harry Franklin Winslow. The family eventually moved to Parsons, where Carol graduated from Parsons High School and then Parsons Junior College with an associate’s degree.
She spent the remainder of her life in Parsons, working as a secretary at Bill Dearth Insurance company and later as a home health care worker in and around the city. It was noted that she was “exceptionally dependable in providing services to her clients.” She attended the Open Bible Church in Parsons and Mount Zion Church in Cherryvale.
Carol’s amazing memory and authentic personality added to the fun and joy at family reunions and holidays. She was a bright light to her six nieces and eight nephews whom she loved dearly and to all her siblings who had preceded her in death. She loved cooking and was very excited when she received a birthday message from celebrity chef Joanne Weir.
Carol is survived by her sister-in-law, Nora Maye Kramer Winslow of Parsons; eight nephews, Steve Hilding of Sacramento, California, John Winslow of Denver, Colorado, Bill Winslow in Adelaide, Australia, Joseph Winslow of Topeka, Michael Winslow of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Randy Stoll of Fullerton, California, Jeff Stoll of Yorba Linda, California, and Mark Winslow of Denver, Colorado; and five nieces, Marilyn Winslow of San Rafael, California, Judy Molinary of Dallas, Texas, Barbara Cook of Overland Park, Jayne Winslow of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Rebecca Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A memorial graveside service will be announced at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to the Presbyterian Manor’s Good Samaritan Fund at Parsons Presbyterian Manor. These memorials may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
The Manor’s care and support for Carol over the years is greatly appreciated by friends and family.
