Dennis James Brungardt

ERIE — Dennis Brungardt, 62, of Erie passed away at 7:51 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, in the Labette Health Emergency Department.

Dennis James Brungardt was born on Oct. 6, 1960, to Gilbert Thomas and Olive Lucille (Fager) Brungardt in Parsons. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in the Erie area, graduating from St. Paul High School in 1978.

Following high school, Dennis earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Kansas State University. He had worked at W.G. Fertilizer in previous years and had also worked the night shift at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center.  Currently, Dennis was a truck driver for Ag Choice.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. He enjoyed tinkering with old machinery and fixing it. Watching Kansas State sports, especially football, and the Kansas City Chiefs were favorite pastimes. He also liked to barbecue.

Survivors include his mother, Olive Brungardt of Erie; a brother, Tom Brungardt of Erie; three sisters, DeeAnn Ketter and her husband, Kevin, of Auburn, Nebraska, Pam Brungardt of Erie and Debbie Culbertson and her husband, Kent, of Nevada, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic School Gymnasium. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
