Lynn Stewart, 55, of Parsons passed away at 8:31 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the Harry Hynes Hospice Unit at Via Christi — St. Francis in Wichita.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1965, to Captain Alvin Eugene “Gene” and Harriet Kay (Kite) Stewart in St. Louis. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. With her father being in the military, the family moved a few times before settling in Parsons in 1973. In 1983, Lynn graduated from Parsons High School and then attended Pittsburg State University.
Over the years, Lynn worked as a dietician at Labette County Medical Center and Parsons Presbyterian Manor. She was then the executive director of the Parsons Chamber of Commerce for a time.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. In her younger years, Lynn enjoyed horseback riding. She loved her pets and even walking dogs for her friends. The outdoors was her favorite place, and she enjoyed gardening and taking care of plants.
Survivors include a son, Dylan Stewart of Parsons; her mother, Kay Creitz of Cherryvale; a brother, Steve Stewart of Cherryvale; three sisters, Toni Habiger and her husband, James, of Parsons, Kim Barney and her husband, John, of Parsons and Leigh Walker and her husband, Doug, of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Stewart; and her stepfather, Dana Creitz.
There will be a private family service. Burial will take place at Valley Cemetery in rural Parsons following cremation.
