HURST, Texas — Dr. Michael Paul Seeley, 67, of Hurst, Texas, passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Baylor Scott White Hospital in Dallas, Texas. His death was unexpected.
He was born April 18, 1953, in Parsons to Walter E. and Betty J. (Dessenberger) Seeley. He attended Parsons schools and graduated from Parsons High School in 1971. He graduated from Pittsburg State University and was accepted into the University of Kansas accelerated medical program in 1975. He graduated from Kansas University Medical College in 1978 and began his residency in Wichita Falls, Texas, shortly thereafter. After residency Mike moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and began his medical practice, which continued until his death.
During high school and college Mike was a musician in the local band Sensational Showmen, which is now honored in the Kansas Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mike had a lifelong passion for scuba diving and was a certified dive instructor. He had been on numerous dive trips covering all parts of the world.
On Oct. 3, 2001, he married Gloria Davila Garcia in Hurst, Texas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his mother, Betty (Dessenberger) Nellis of Parsons; an uncle and aunt, Don and Donna Seeley of Parsons; a brother, Robert Ong (Monica) of Parsons; two stepbrothers, Robert Nellis (Anne) of Independence, Missouri, and Kirk Nellis (Adelle) of Tulsa; a stepsister, Cheryl Wilson (Pat) of Coffeyville; and two nieces, Lindsay Jones (Eric) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Sarah Allen (Jamal) of Kansas City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Walter and Betty Seeley; his stepfather, Gilmer Nellis; and his brother, Mark Seeley.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life ceremony will take place at a later date.
