Terry Shouse, 62, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita from complications related to lung cancer. He was surrounded by those closest to him, Viola Long, Barbara Shouse and Aaron and Brett Shouse.
Terry Shouse was born Oct. 6, 1957, in Pittsburg to Glen and Rosie Shouse. He spent his early years helping on the family farm and saw mill and running the banks of the Neosho River. He graduated from McCune High School in 1976. Terry also got a taste for travel early on by hiding in the trunks of visitors’ cars when they would leave the family home in rural Kansas. He would later go on to work at the St. Paul Saw Mill, Hamilton Trenching, Technicarbon and was currently a driver for FedEx Freight.
On July 5, 1980, he married Barbara Stringer. They divorced in 2015. Together they had two sons, one smart and one good looking, Aaron and Amber Shouse of Frontenac and Brett Shouse of Parsons; and two granddaughters, Ella and Kamree. Terry also leaves behind five brothers, Richard (Juanita), Dennis (Kathy), Darrell (Marsha), Chris (Teresa) and Gary (Judy); four sisters, Sherry (Ron McClenning), Judy (Joe Butler), Janet (Pat Leach) and Jane (Bill Hastings); and a brother-in-law, Kenny Beckwith.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Glenda and an infant sister Lila Marie; a sister-in-law, Beth Shouse; and in-laws, Glenn and Nadine Stringer.
Terry enjoyed tending to his cattle, helping out friends and neighbors was always a sucker for a good time or good road trip. He loved a good practical joke.
A service will be at his home on Saturday evening.
