Shane M. Marlow, 40, of Parsons passed away early Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at his home in Parsons. His death was unexpected.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1979, in Iola to Dana and Janet (Vance) Marlow. In 1981, the family moved to Parsons, where Shane grew up and attended Parsons schools, graduating from Parsons High School in 1998.
Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served for two years and was stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina. After his discharge, Shane lived in various places across the country including Maine, Michigan and Washington. He held various jobs over the years. A back injury sidelined his working career and he recently returned to Parsons.
Shane enjoyed movies and was an avid movie follower, especially Marvel movies. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. He was also a trivia nut and lover of history.
Shane is survived by his parents, Dana and Janet Marlow of Parsons; his children, Isiah Gawlas of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Noah and Gideon of Chanute, Jacob Marlow of Marlow, Oklahoma, Tarryn Barnes of Wichita, Jagger Marlow of Nebraska and Catherine Marlow of Port Angeles, Washington; a grandchild, Parker James Heinz of Michigan; his brother, Jordan Marlow and his significant other, Elizabeth Shadley, of Kansas City, Missouri; his maternal grandfather, DeWayne Vance of Iola; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Angel Dawn Marlow; his paternal grandparents; and his maternal grandmother.
A private family service will be held Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Bever officiating. The family will receive friends following the service from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
