Ernest J. “Ernie” Seibert, 79, of Parsons passed away at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at his home.
Ernest James Seibert was born on Feb. 28, 1940, to William H. and Ida K. (Harris) Seibert in Mt. Home, Arkansas. As a young boy, he grew up on the Big Island around St. Paul and later moved to Strauss. He graduated from McCune High School. Later Ernie moved to Parsons.
He worked at Princess Homes, Carter Sawmill and Wilson’s Sawmill. Until his retirement, Ernie was a welder at Ruskin Manufacturing.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially watching his children’s sporting events in earlier years. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and building things.
In 1961, Ernie married Carol J. Castle in Galesburg. The couple later divorced.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Seibert and his wife, Sherry, of Parsons; a daughter, Kim Brader of Parsons; seven grandchildren, Shayla Seibert, Hunter Seibert, Baylea Seibert, Brandi Stover, Breanda McConnell, McKayla Brader and Jonathan Brader; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lavera.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Middleton; and a granddaughter, Katie Brader.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
