ALTAMONT — Rex J. Robbins, 88, longtime resident of Altamont, passed away the morning of Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Carthage Health and Rehab in Carthage, Missouri.
Rex James Robbins was born on Dec. 22, 1934, to Ralph and Hazel (Mobley) Robbins in McCune. He grew up and attended school in rural McCune.
He lived his entire life in the McCune, Parsons and Altamont areas. From 1976 until retiring, Rex worked in the maintenance department for the city of Altamont.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening.
On March 23, 1974, Rex married Betty Thomas in Parsons. She preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2006. He then married Beverly Holden. The couple later divorced.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Robbins (Rebecca) of Carthage, Missouri; a stepdaughter, Jean Lardy (Steve) of Lakeland, Florida; four grandsons, Doug Robbins, Brett Gentry, Travis Gentry and David Hollman; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; his stepson, Bill Gentry; two brothers; and two sisters.
The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Altamont.
