JOPLIN — Evan T. Hamilton, 24, of Joplin, a former Altamont resident, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016, in the emergency room of Mercy Hospital in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
He was born July 8, 1992, at Parsons to Billy R. Jr. and Gina L. (Armstrong) Hamilton. He grew up and attended school in Altamont and graduated from the Labette County High School in 2010. Following high school, Evan attended the Tulsa Tech School in Tulsa, where he studied welding. He later worked for the Smith Chevrolet Co. in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In May, he began working at the O&F Machine Products Co. in Joplin where he was employed as a machinist.
Evan loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed riding four-wheelers and motorcycles. He also enjoyed mechanical things, fixing cars and anything related to Chevrolet.
Survivors include his mother, Gina Armstrong of the home; his father, Billy Hamilton of Texas; a brother, Bradley Myers of Altamont; a sister, McKenzie Hamilton of Arkansas; a maternal grandmother, Sherry Cole and her husband, Kenny, of Altamont; paternal grandparents, Bill and Mary Hamilton of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a maternal great-grandmother, Myra Rowe of Greenwood, Arkansas.
Evan was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Burt and Adele Hamilton; a great-grandmother, Edith Armstrong; a maternal grandfather, Jim Armstrong; a great-aunt, Glenda Rowland; and a cousin, Jason Wilson.
A celebration of life service and a family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Cremation will follow.
