GARNETT — Jeanette Wolken, 82, of Garnett passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab in Baldwin City.
M. Jeanette Van Leeuwen was born the ninth of 10 children to Jake and Bertha (Jennings) Van Leeuwen on Dec. 12, 1937, in St. Paul. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in St. Paul, graduating from high school there in 1955.
On Oct. 3, 1959, she married Louis Wolken in St. Paul. The couple raised their family on a farm in the Greeley area. She was a dedicated and faithful member of St. John Catholic Church in Greeley.
Survivors include three daughters, Jane Campbell (Craig) of Fort Scott, Eileen Bertels (Bill Jewell) of Mayetta and Sharon Mader (Alan) of Baldwin City; a son, Jim Wolken (Kelli) of Greeley; 13 grandchildren, Brett, Trevor and Jenna Campbell, Eric Bertels, Beth Hughes, Seth and Tyler Wolken, Grace Mader, and Wesley, Bailey, Briley, Gavin and Teagan Wolken; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sister Rosina Van Leeuwen of Wichita and Judy Fager of Erie.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis, on March 7, 2013; son, Gus, on Oct. 31, 2014; grandson, Ryan Campbell, on Feb. 1, 2002; three brothers, Roger, Ted and Harry Van Leeuwen; and four sisters, Jerry Hill, Cleo Jacquinot, Jeanie LaForge and Gert Forbes.
The rosary was prayed and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John Catholic Church in Greeley. Burial was at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Greeley.
