Mary Lou Mabery, 88, of Parsons passed away at 4:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at her home.
Mary Lou Kramer was born on May 31, 1932, to James Franklin and Mamie Frances (Taiclet) Franklin in Richard, Missouri. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Bourbon County, Kansas.
On May 10, 1947, she and Carl Mabery were united in marriage in Girard. In 1951, they moved to Parsons, where Mary Lou had lived since. Over the years, Mary Lou worked at a few local businesses, including the former Olson’s Grocery from 1959 to 1968, the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant from 1968 to 1971 and the former Safeway store from 1975 to 1988. From 1988 to 1998, she worked as a Kirby vacuum repair and salesperson.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Parsons. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She also enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Elaine Marshall and her husband, Dewey, of Independence; three grandchildren, Robyn Ellis, James Marshall and Raelene Gorden; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Marshall, Cody Marshall, Makena Driskill and Joe Payne; a great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Payne; two sisters-in-law, Cecelia Kramer and Norma Kramer of Fort Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; a son, Ray Eugene; two brothers, Billy Eugene Kramer and James Joseph Kramer; a sister, Dorene Morrell; four half-brothers, John Kramer, Les Kramer, Charlie Kramer and Bob Greene; and a half-sister, Patricia “Mae” Riley.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Godfrey. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. Monday.
