PITTSBURG — Elliott Julius Reece Sr. of Pittsburg passed away the evening of Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. His death was unexpected.
Elliott Julius “Jaye” Reece Sr. was born on Sept. 23, 1969, to Raymond Jones and Jennie Hickerson in Parsons. He graduated from Parsons High School and attended Central State University in Ohio.
He was a finance specialist in the U.S. Army and then a kung fu martial arts instructor for over 25 years.
He had a tremendous love for family and martial arts. He loved spending time wrestling around with his grandchildren. Spending time with family was very important to him, and he was always planning the next barbecue get together. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Cassey Reece of the home; two sons, Elliott Reece Jr. and Kameron Reece, both of Pittsburg; four daughters, Chatara Oliver of New Jersey, Dakeshia Reece of Parsons, Kaitlin Reece of Joplin and Jadrien Reece of Pittsburg; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, Darrin Crawford of Kansas.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and a son.
Per his requests, cremation was under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory in Joplin. The family will have a celebration of life later in the summer.
