Dennis Dewayne Atkins, 60, of Parsons, formerly of Coffeyville and rural Wann, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Oswego Health and Rehabilitation in Oswego.
Dennis was born on Sept. 2, 1959, at Coffeyville to Charles and Mary (Vaughn) Atkins. He grew up in the Timberhill community of rural Wann and attended elementary school in Wann.
In the late 1980s he moved to Coffeyville with his mother. He worked with Class Limited cleaning offices. In the early 2000s he moved to Parsons where he worked with SKIL.
Dennis loved attending church, visiting many while living in Coffeyville. He also loved singing, but especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his mother, Mary McAfee of Coffeyville; siblings, Wormie Glen Atkins of Noxie, Oklahoma, Darrell Lynn Atkins of Coffeyville, Billy Ray Atkins of Parsons, Sherry Dawn Beard of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Johnny Lee Atkins of Buffalo, Missouri, Tammy Dean Atkins of Coffeyville and Barbie Sue Reeves of Coffeyville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his father.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, with Pastor Kevin O’Connor officiating. Burial will be in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Dennis requested that after the service pizza and birthday cake would be served.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
