CHERRYVALE — Arlene L. Kennedy, 57, of Cherryvale passed away at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Labette Health. Her death was unexpected.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1962, in Sonora, California, to Manuel Salazar and Ada (Schwoerer) Salazar. She grew up in Sonora and attended schools in Sonora and Turlock, California. Arlene was a certified medication aide and worked in several health care facilities throughout her life.
She and Donald R. “Don” Kennedy were married on Feb. 16, 1980, in Carson City, Nevada. They moved to Dennis in 1996 and to Cherryvale in 2008.
Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family and especially with her nieces. She loved to travel and cherished being with her husband and accompanied him while he worked as an over-the-road truck driver. She also enjoyed her animals and belonged to a Pomeranian dog club.
Survivors include her husband, Don Kennedy of the home; a son, Michael Kennedy of central Oregon; a granddaughter, Anya Kennedy of central Oregon; a brother, Edward Young of Carmel, California; and a sister, Reetha Lee of Shingle Springs, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Ann Sears.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. No service is scheduled.
