Daniel L “Dan” Swafford, 67, of Parsons passed away at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1954, to Tom and Edith Swafford in Parsons. He met and was married to Brenda S. Buie in 1976 in Parsons at Church of God, and they lived in Parsons a majority of their marriage. They had and raised three children together. Dan and Brenda divorced in 2003.
He was a very hard worker. He and his brothers helped with their father’s tree trimming business for many of their younger years. Later he worked for Individual Mausoleum in Parsons. Next, he worked for Columbia TecTank in Parsons, and then finally he worked for Power Flame Inc., where he became a painter and lead man. He retired after 20 years of service with the company.
He enjoyed playing pool and going to Mo-Kan Dragway with his son. He was an avid woodworker. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and watching westerns on TV.
Survivors include his son, Dan Swafford II and his wife, Jessica, of Parsons; two daughters, Kelley Hull and her husband, Branden, of Carthage, New York, and Edie Day and her husband, Jordan, of Altamont; a brother, Mark Swafford and his wife, Mia, of Parsons; nine grandchildren, Madisen Hull, Landan Swafford, Erica Hull, Kaylee Swafford, Kaytlenn Swafford, Jordan Hull, Brooklenn Swafford, Dathon Day and Zadock Day; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond “Ray” Swafford; his sister, Marsha Rodriguez; his brother-in-law, Eliseo “Lee” Rodriguez; his nephew, James Rodriguez; his great-niece, Laci Swigart; and his great-nephew, Donovahn Rasmussen.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Western Way Cowboy Church near Altamont. The service will be livestreamed on Facebook for those unable to attend the memorial service. Services are under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
