LOG CABIN, Texas — Surrounded by her family and friends, Lynette Houston (O’Connor), 53, of Log Cabin, Texas, formerly of Parsons, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, after battling pancreatic cancer.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1967, in Parsons, where she grew up with her younger brother and sister, Chris and Andrea. As a young girl, she attended Meadow View Grade School and enjoyed riding horses, playing softball, playing piano, singing and performing for any audience.
After graduating from Labette County High School in 1986, Lynette moved to the Dallas area, where she worked several jobs, including her favorite as a bar manager. She eventually made her home in Log Cabin, Texas, with Rod Busby. Lynette or “Lulu,” as she was lovingly known, was a pillar in her community. Her friends knew her as a kind soul, always willing to give and help others without question. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include two sons, John Moore and Cody Busy, both of Dallas; two stepchildren, Steven Busby of Log Cabin, Texas, and Dria Musick of Payne Springs, Texas; her father, Larry O’Connor of Lawrence; two brothers, Chris O’Connor of Lenexa and Jonas Houston of Plano, Texas; a sister, Jessica Kernz of Abilene, Texas; and an honorary brother, Danny Forbes of Erie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rod Busby; her mother, Marcia (Bellah) Houston; and her sister, Andrea O’Connor.
There will be a celebration of life at 6 p.m. April 23 at the Alamo boat dock in Log Cabin, Texas.
