HAMILTON, Ohio — Carolyn S. Trimble, 80, formerly of Melrose, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in Hamilton, Ohio.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1942, to Carl and Sue Trotter in Texas City, Texas.
On March 2, 1967, Carolyn married Rodney L. Trimble in Texas City. While Mr. Trimble was serving in the United States Air Force, Carolyn taught school in several states.
In 1981, the family moved to Kansas, where they lived in Coffeyville for a year until moving to Chetopa in 1982. Carolyn lived in Chetopa until moving to Ohio after Rodney’s passing on Aug. 5, 2021.
Survivors include three sons, Donald Trimble and his wife, Evelyn, of Hamilton, Ohio, Rodney Trimble Jr. of Melrose and Steve Trimble and his wife, Starla, of Chetopa; two daughters, Karin Trimble of Chetopa and Erin Trimble and her significant other, O.C. Castorena, of Independence; seven grandchildren, Daniel Trimble, Brittany Baiza, Wyatt Trimble, Olivia Trimble, Trae Wilson, Rena Smith and Alyssa Rogers; 17 great-grandchildren, Gavin Trimble, Connor Trimble, Riley Trimble, Jaydyn Wilson, Gage Wilson, Kingzley Baiza, Nevaeh Rice, Tymberlynn Rice, Harlan Smith, Behr Smith, Taygan Trimble, Kodi Trimble, Paisley Trimble, Drake Rogers, Aria Rogers, Memory Castorena and Annaley Castorena; a sister, Joyce Kaemmerling; a brother, Charles Trotter; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rodney L. “Rod” Trimble Sr.; a granddaughter, Ashley Castorena; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Kaemmerling.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. until the service begins. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa.
The family suggests memorials to Chetopa High School to benefit a scholarship for students studying education. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS, 67337.
