Dan Anderson, 68, of Parsons died at 1:11 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Freeman West Hospital at Joplin.
He was born April 4, 1953, at Oswego, a son of Leo Joel and Wilma Fern (Brennick) Anderson. He was raised at Parsons and attended school at Altamont.
On Sept. 9, 1971, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served until being discharged on March 8, 1974. He then returned to Parsons and opened Anderson Auto Body. He operated the shop for 45 years.
On May 19, 1974, he was united in marriage to Marge Perez at Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
He was a member of James River Church at Joplin. He enjoyed working and repairing cars. He also enjoyed smoking meats.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Charity Anderson of Parsons; a daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and John Martinez of Topeka; eight grandchildren, Grayson Anderson, Antonia Anderson, Joshua Robertson and his wife, Melissa, Nick Robertson and his wife, Shawntania, Kyrstie Robertson, all of Parsons, Brynn Martinez of Tampa Bay, Florida, Darcie Martinez and Johnna Reed and her husband, Tyler, all of Parsons; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John David Anderson; and an infant son, Patrick Michael Anderson, who died June 30, 1976.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Dozier officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
