The Parsons Area Community Foundation recently received a $20,625 donation from Ducommun Inc. for a disaster relief fund.

The goal of the newly created fund is to aid in disaster relief needs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic within 25 miles of Parsons. Donations designated for the PACF Disaster Relief Fund will be used specifically for current and future disasters that affect area communities and their residents.

“This is an amazing gift given by The Ducommun Foundation on behalf of Ducommun Inc. and its local manufacturing facility,” Joan Vitt, executive director of the Parsons Area Community Foundation, said in a prepared statement. “Employees at the Ducommun Performance Center in Parsons were asked to nominate area nonprofit agencies to be awarded a portion of funds made available locally. We were fortunate enough to be one of the nominees. This is a perfect example of the kind hearts and generous spirits of local residents and their employers. We cannot thank those employees and the leadership of Ducommun enough for this wonderful gift.”

Ducommun delivers manufacturing solutions to customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. Founded in 1849, the company specializes in two core areas — electronic systems and structural systems — to produce complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs and sophisticated industrial applications.

“We are happy to contribute to the pandemic relief fund as making a difference in local communities where we work and live is an important priority. On behalf of Ducommun Inc. and our Parsons Performance Center, we are pleased to make this donation to the Parsons Area Community Foundation during this critical time,” Stephen G. Oswald, chairman, president  CEO, said in the statement.

Donations to the Parsons Area Community Foundation can be made by mailing a check to PACF, P.O. Box 894, Parsons, KS 67357 or at Any questions should be directed to Vitt at 421-0723.

The PACF’s mission is to improve the quality of life in the greater Parsons area by increasing opportunities for charitable giving, connecting donors to community needs and providing leadership on important community issues.
