Parsons police arrested a woman for allegedly violating the Kansas Offender Registration Act.
On April 20, police began an investigation into Nichole L. Cardoza, a registered drug offender from a 2022 conviction for drug distribution.
On April 21, Lt. Kyle Wiford and Community Service Officer Ricky Thompson began following up on the case. They learned that Cardoza had moved from her registered address to another about two months before. Cardoza had not notified the registrar at the Labette County Sheriff’s Office of the address change. Officers found Cardoza at the new residence in the 2500 block of Crawford.
Cardoza allegedly violated three of her registration requirements, failing to register quarterly, failing to register a new address after moving from her previous registered address and failing to annually renew her Kansas driver’s/identification card. These violations amounted to six counts of violation of offender registration act.
Cardoza was charged in Labette County District Court for violations of the Kansas Offender Registration Act and given a $10,000 bond.
This continues to be an ongoing investigation and citizens are encouraged to “see it, hear it, report it.” If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060, call the tip line at 421-7057 or email tips@parsonspd.com.
