FREDONIA — A former Erie woman died Monday evening from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident north of Fredonia.
The accident happened at 8:35 p.m. Monday on Harper Road at the junction of U.S. 400, which is a mile north of Fredonia.
Haley R. Surber, 19, Fredonia, formerly of Erie, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was transferred to Country Side Funeral Home in Chanute.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Cidney N. Smith, 18, Fredonia, was northbound on Harper Road and failed to yield at a stop sign.
