FRONTENAC — A substitute teacher in Frontenac has been arrested for attempting to solicit a sex act from a student, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports.

According to a release from Sheriff Danny Smith, the administration from Frontenac USD 249 on Nov. 16 contacted the school resource officer and reported an incident involving a substitute teacher and a student.

The report indicated the substitute teacher, identified as Ross McCullough, 39, requested a female student to engage in sexually explicit conduct via a mobile phone. The student refused the request and reported it to a parent. The parent subsequently reported it to school officials. The sheriff’s office launched an investigation, which resulted in McCullough’s arrest Monday.

McCullough was transported to the Crawford County Jail and booked for attempted sexual exploitation of a child. No court date was available.
