Parsons police are investigating a dog bite that happened Sunday afternoon.
The dog is under quarantine for now and police are awaiting a determination from Dr. Eva Dudek of Parsons Pet Hospital on the dog’s breed.
Police were called about 3 p.m. Sunday to the 1700 block of Felix on the report of a dog bite. The victim in the case reported the dog as a pit bull. Pit bulls are banned in Parsons, but a breed determination needs to be made for prosecution.
Police Sgt. Jason Ludwig said responding officers think the dog is a terrier mix but they were not able to determine the true breed.
“We base our decisions to charge for the pit bull ordinance after the animal control officer can see the dog and confer with the vet,” Ludwig said.
He said the victim received treatment.
