Virgil Peck, senator-elect for the 15th District in Southeast Kansas, and state Rep. Richard Proehl of the 7th District announced their committee assignments for the 2021 Legislature.
Peck, a Havana Republican, said he will serve as the vice chairman of the Senate Insurance Committee and a member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources, Financial Institutions and Commerce committees.
“Serving on these four committees, as well as my plans to introduce several pieces of legislation, will keep me plenty busy in the Capitol,” Peck said in a prepared statement.
Proehl said he will still chair the House Transportation Committee. He will also serve as a member of the Appropriations, Tax and Health Care Stabilization Fund committees.
Senate District 15 covers most of Montgomery and Labette counties, as well as all of Neosho County.
The 7th House District covers all of Labette County except for the Chetopa area and part of Montgomery County.
The 2021 legislative session starts Jan. 11 and is scheduled to last 90 days.
