A Parsons woman pleaded guilty last week to two charges of conspiring to sexually exploit a child by producing child pornography. She faces up to 30 years in prison on each count and restitution of up to $110,000.
Thommie-Lyn Stansky, 28, and Dustin Kenneth Strom, 25, faced a nine-count indictment in federal court. Some charges alleged the two acted together and others that they acted individually.
In October 2021, Dillon E. Everman, 29, Parsons, was added to the indictment on counts 10, 11 and 12.
Strom pleaded guilty in June to two counts of conspiring to sexually exploit a child by producing child pornography.
Stansky pleaded guilty to the charges July 25 in U.S. District Court in Wichita.
In her plea, Stansky admitted to similar facts that Strom admitted to in his plea:
Beginning Feb. 1, 2021, Strom and Stansky began living together. During the relationship, Strom told Stansky he had a sexual interest in children. Stansky, rather than reporting Strom, joined him in discussing the sexual abuse of children and the viewing of child pornography, according to the plea.
As part of this relationship, Stansky sexually abused a 4-year-old child and created an image showing her performing oral sex on the child. She shared this image with Strom. Stansky also sexually abused a 2-year-old child and provided an image of her penetrating the child’s genitals with her finger. Stansky also facilitated Strom’s abuse of that child by luring the child’s parent away while the child remained in Strom’s care, during which Strom created images of that child performing oral sex on him, the plea said.
On Aug. 23, 2021, some of Strom’s child pornography activities relating to the older child were discovered and reported by a social media provider because they had been sent to others via the internet. Forensic examination of Stansky’s and Strom’s phones, as well as their social media accounts, revealed conversations between them discussing the sexual abuse of a child as well as images depicting the sexual abuse of the two children, the plea said.
Stansky and Strom face from 15 to 30 years in prison on each of the charges. They also face up to a $50,000 assessment on each count because of the federal Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act, created to benefit victims of child pornography. They also face an assessment of up to $5,000 on each count for the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act.
Stansky will be sentenced Oct. 19 in Wichita. Strom will be sentenced on Sept. 20 in federal court.
Everman will return to court on Aug. 29 for a pretrial hearing. His jury trial will begin on Sept. 12 in Wichita.
