Sunbelt Rodeo banner

City worker Scott Heiskell puts up a Sunbelt Special Rodeo banner on Main Street Monday. It has been three years since the Sunbelt Rodeo has been able to take place because of COVID-19 restrictions. The Sunbelt Rodeo is planned for Sept. 23-24 on the grounds of the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. The rodeo is celebrating its 40th year, which would have actually been last year.

After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Gary J. Daniels Sunbelt Rodeo participants are dusting off their spurs and saddles.

“We are very happy to announce the return of the Gary J. Daniels Sunbelt Rodeo,” spokesperson Shanon Lansdowne said of the event that will take place Sept. 23 and 24.
