MOUND VALLEY — The Labette County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Mound Valley woman late Monday night on drug charges after serving a search warrant at a home.
On Monday, deputies responded to information on a wanted person staying at 693 16000 Road in Mound Valley. Deputies knocked on the door several times and received no answer.
While standing outside, deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence, according to a release from the sheriff’s department.
After several more minutes of knocking and hearing movement inside the home, deputies contacted detectives and waited for a search warrant for the residence.
Because of the wanted person’s history, the Labette County Special Response Team executed the warrant at 10:24 p.m. Once inside the home, deputies removed Leanda R. Pound, 40. During the search numerous items were seized, including items used to grow and fertilize marijuana. Deputies also seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
At the conclusion of the search, deputies arrested Pound. She is in the Labette County Jail on suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and distribution of marijuana.
