The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin a resurfacing project on a 17-mile section of U.S. 169 next week, weather permitting.
The road work will start 5 miles north of the east U.S. 169/U.S. 166 junction and continue north to the Montgomery-Labette county line. Activity includes patching, milling and a 1½-inch asphalt overlay.
A pilot car and flaggers will guide one-lane traffic through the work zone. Drivers should expect delays of 15 minutes or less through mid-October.
Cornejo & Sons LLC, Wichita, is contractor on the $2.2 million project.
