The valuation of construction projects in Parsons in October topped that of last year’s, but the year-to-date total still lags far behind that of 2018.

The city of Parsons issued 11 building permits last month for a total valuation of $89,743.62. That figure was up from the $37,850 recorded in October 2018.

The running total for 2019 reached $3,067,429, far below the $10,919,935.29 valuation recorded in the first 10 months of 2018. Much of last year’s total came from the beginning of the Holiday Inn Express and Parsons Conference Center construction project.

Projects permitted last month were:

— Installation of nonlighted letters on a commercial building, $4,000.

— Carport, $971.

— Addition of three walls and three bathroom walls at a commercial building, $800.

— Vinyl privacy fence, $32,000.

— Re-roof, total tear-off and replacement, $4,800.

— Carport, $1,072.62.

— Storage shed, $300.

— Lean-to on barn, $100.

— 4-foot black chain-link fence on commercial property, $14,200.
