A vehicle chase that began in Parsons ended south of St. Paul early Sunday morning when the pursued vehicle crashed and its occupants escaped.
The Neosho County sheriff was notified of the chase at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
The occupants, a man and a woman, ran off toward the Neosho River. Parsons police terminated the search, but Neosho County and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism joined because the duo were thought to be southbound along the river.
The Neosho County sheriff notified area residents via CodeRed, an emergency notification system that’s used in Labette County as well, of the suspects.
By Sunday afternoon, Wildlife and Parks had captured the two, who were transported to the Parsons Police Department.
Parsons police are seeking charges of fleeing and eluding and misdemeanor theft.
