McCUNE — Crawford County and state law officers are investigating the discovery of decomposed human remains found Monday in rural Crawford County.
According to release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, a person walking found the remains Monday north of K-126 on South 80th Street. This intersection is three miles east of the turn south toward McCune on K-126, or seven miles west of the K-7 junction.
Law officers confirmed that the skeletal remains were human.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation. KBI agents and the KBI’s Crime Scene Response Team processed the scene.
The cause of death and identification are unknown at this time. The remains were collected and transported to Frontier Forensics in Kansas City for examination.
