FRONTENAC — A rural Crawford County woman died early Sunday in a house fire in rural Mulberry, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports.
A caller at 3:41 a.m. Sunday reported a house fire at 143 S. 250th St. northeast of Frontenac in rural Mulberry. Deputies, the ambulance service and firefighters responded.
While fighting the fire, responders found an adult woman dead in the home.
The Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate. The woman’s body was taken to Kansas City for an autopsy to determine cause of death.
The sheriff’s office in a social media post said the fire cause is under investigation.
Arma, Frontenac, Baker Township firefighters responded as did the Crawford County Ambulance Service and the sheriff’s office.
