Gift to PALS

Artist Whitney B. Powell of Caney displays a drawing she donated to Residential Treatment Services of Southeast Kansas Able Advocacy Group in Parsons for members to raise funds for a charity of their choosing. Because the drawing was of elephants, the group chose to raise funds for Proud Animal Lovers Shelter, a no-kill animal shelter in Parsons. Joan Tongier, PALS board president, holds the envelop containing $100 the group raised on its own selling chances on the drawing to RTSSK employees, family and friends. Powell committed about 80 hours to the drawing. Pictures of her art, including the elephants, can be seen on Facebook at Whitney B. Powell Art.
