Mound Valley tree lighting set Sunday
MOUND VALLEY — Mound Valley will celebrate the Christmas season on Sunday, Dec. 8, with a parade and a Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
The parade lineup starts at 4:45 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Mound Valley Grade School. The parade begins at 5:15 p.m. Any organization or person is welcome to sign up. Contact Jake Rion at (620) 423-4693.
The lighting ceremony starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8.
Fun around the tree will consist of music, fire pits, s’mores, Santa and Mrs. Claus, hot chocolate, popcorn and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring an ornament for the tree. There will also be a box under the tree for Toys for Tots.
A yard will be chosen as the best-decorated yard at a later date to give residents more time to decorate. The winner will be announced on Christmas Day on Facebook and will be awarded a prize.
PALS annual meeting is Dec. 9
The public is invited to the annual meeting of the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter. The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, at the shelter, 24052 Meade Road.
The meeting will cover the year-end summary of events at the shelter.
