It’s time again for the Stella Wells Christmas Baskets program and the families that benefit from it.
Families can register for the baskets from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 25 and 26. The number to call is (620) 8201152. This number will only be answered during these times and dates and the phone system can only handle a few calls at a time. If you can’t get through initially, call back. Registrations will take place online as well on the Stella Wells Facebook page.
Baskets are on a firstcome, first-served basis, and once they are spoken for, you can be added to the waiting list.
This year the baskets will be different. The committee is offering $40 vouchers at King Cash Saver instead of the meat and dairy products that have been in the basket in the past. The vouchers can still purchase these items, but it gives recipients the opportunity to choose items specific to their needs. They can be used on food items only between basket delivery and March 31, 2025.
These items still will be included in the baskets: peanut butter, pancake mix, pancake syrup, brownie mix, mac and cheese, sugar, flour, spaghetti, pasta sauce, instant rice, cream of mushroom soup, a loaf of bread, a bag of potatoes, a bag of fresh carrots and a bag of apples. Donated miscellaneous food items will also be added to the boxes.
The committee is also looking to the public to assist with packing the boxes.

Anyone interested in volunteering should gather at the old Sutherland’s building between 9 a.m. and noon on Monday, Dec. 16, or between 1 and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17. Baskets will be delivered on Saturday, Dec. 21.
Volunteers are needed the day of delivery and pickup as well. Volunteers should show up at 8 a.m. that day.
The annual Stella Wells Christmas Tree Auction helps fund the program. The auction will be Friday, Dec. 5, at the Parsons Convention Center south of the Holiday Inn. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the auction begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available for $25 per person or $200 for a table of eight. Email stellawellsauction@ gmail.com for tickets.
