Community Thanksgiving
The Parsons Community Thanksgiving service will be at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, at Faith United Methodist Church, 3035 Crawford. The public is welcome to this service sponsored by the Parsons Ministerial Association.
Christmas parade
The annual Parsons Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will start at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in downtown Parsons. This year’s theme is “Songs of Christmas.”
At the library
Below are the events for next week at the Parsons Public Library.
MONDAY: 4 p.m., LEGO Club for ages 15 and under; 6 p.m., family bingo.
TUESDAY: 4 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10 to 18. THURSDAY, NOV. 28, TO SATURDAY, NOV. 30: Closed for Thanksgiving holiday.
Genealogy research still available
Genealogy/family history research assistance will continue to be available during the Parsons Museum and Historical Society’s off-season schedule, from November to April 2025.
The research assistance dates for walk-ins will be on the first Saturday and Sunday of the month, 1 to 4 p.m., when the museum is open on Dec. 7 and 8, Jan. 4 and 5, Feb. 1 and 2, March 1 and 2 and April 5 and 6. The museum will resume its regular season hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m., on May 2, 2025.

Parsons Livestock Auction
On Wednesday, the Parsons Livestock Auction sold 1,000 cattle.
Choice cows 117-126, canners-cutters 105-116, shelly cows 104 and down, bred cows up to $1,875, pairs up to $2,075; choice bulls 150-162, lower grades 149 and down.
Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 275-393; 400-500, 280-351; 500600, 245-322; 600-700, 240-286; 700-800, 215-257; 800 and over, 190-248.
Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 240-311; 400-500, 240-305; 500600, 240-290; 600-700, 180-243; 700-800, 110-222; 800 and over, 140-205.
