Mollie E. Ybarra

MOUND VALLEY — Mollie E. Ybarra, 74, of Mound Valley passed away the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at Freeman West in Joplin.

Mollie Elizabeth Butler was born on Sept. 28, 1950, to Ephraim Wayne and Dorothy Butler in Sulphur, Louisiana. She grew up and attended school in Sulphur, where she graduated from high school in 1970.

Following high school, Mollie attended Sowela Technical Community College in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She moved with her family to Cushing, Oklahoma, where she met the love of her life, Joe Ybarra. They married on Nov. 17, 1973, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Cherryvale. The couple made a home in Mound Valley, where they have lived since.

For many years, Mollie worked at Grandview Products, and she retired from there.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church while also attending some functions at the Mound Valley Christian Church.

Family was the most important thing in Mollie’s life. She always put others first and herself last. For several years, Mollie helped run Meals on Wheels in Mound Valley and served on the Mound Valley Library Board. She enjoyed sewing and doing embroidery.

She is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; and a son, Joel Ybarra, of Louisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Josh Ybarra, on May 26, 2023; and her brother, Wayne Butler, on June 17, 2024.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Mound Valley Christian Church. The family will receive friends beginning at noon until the service begins.

The family suggests memorials to Saving Sight and these may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS, 67357.
