LCC Board of Trustees

The Labette Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Friday, March 20, at noon. The meeting will be held in the Cardinal Event Center.

Parsons Gun Club

Parsons Gun Club will host an open house at the gun range from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.

Innovation Day

On Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Labette County Libraries in Altamont, Chetopa, Edna, and Oswego) are hosting an Innovation Day. It will be held at the Altamont Grade School gym. The event is free and all ages are welcome. Participants will be allowed a hands-on experience with the different technology, including robots, drones, 3D printers, laser engravers, and more.

Prairie Dog Alliance

Founder Marjorie Reynolds will meet with the public at the Parsons Public Library during open hours this Tuesday.

Daughters of Isabella

The Daughters of Isabella, met in the St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul, on March 10. Regent Linda DeGarmo chaired the meeting. The spiritual activity, on “Grace” was given by Cheryl Trepagnier. Linda DeGarmo gave a spiritual reading on “Control”. Eleven officers were present.

Cheryl Trepagnier gave a report on the Knight’s of Columbus special Exemplification Ceremony, in which the Daughters of Isabella were invited to attend as well as the dinner and social hour which followed. A delicious dinner was prepared by the Trepagniers who also provided King Cake from New Orleans and homemade ice cream. They were thanked for all of their work which led to a successful event. It was attended by 73 persons.

The Red Cross blood mobile will be in St. Paul on April 8. D of I members will work in the canteen.

The next meeting will be April 14. The 103rd anniversary of St. Lukes circle will be celebrated that evening. Following the meeting, members said the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Mary Jean Zandler was named Daughter of the Month. Door prizes were won by Jolene Born, Cynthia VanLeuween, Marlene Clark and Cathleen Swartz. Hostesses were Joan Davied and Kathie Grosidier.

Parsons Soroptimist Bingo Event

The Parsons Soroptimist Club invites the community to enjoy an evening of fun, food, and philanthropy at Ladies’ Night Out: Favorite Things Bingo on Wednesday, March 26 at 6 p.m. at the Labette Community College Cardinal Event Center, 1306 Main Street in Parsons.

Open to the public, this event promises a lively night filled with bingo, prizes, and community connection while raising funds to support local scholarships benefiting local women and girls.

For just $20 per person (cash payments accepted at Labette Bank) or $21 for online payments, attendees will enjoy a delicious taco bar, chips and salsa, refreshing margaritas, and two bingo cards included with admission. Additional bingo cards and raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the evening, Seating is limited, so early registration is encouraged. American Advocacy Initiative

AAI will hold its next meeting on Thursday, March 26, at 6 p.m. in the Parsons Public Library. Topics of discussion will include spring clean up, art projects for youth, and more.

Labette County Democrats

The Labette County Democrats will be hosting a “No Kings” Protest on Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of 16th and Main.

Animal Vaccine & Microchip Clinic

Proud Animal Lovers Shelter and Dr. Mindy’s Veterinary Services will be holding a drive-thru clinic for dog and cat vaccinations and microchipping from 9 a.m. to noon on April 18, in the Parsons Livestock Auction parking lot. Cost of services range from $5-25 per service. Cash and card payments will be accepted.

Here is the latest Parsons Livestock Auction report: 810 cattle were sold Wednesday, March 18. Choice cows 170-183, canners- cutters 160-170, shelly cows 159 and down, bred cows up to $2,850, pairs up to $5,700, choice bulls 210-237, lower grades 209 and down.

Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 495-670; 400-500, 500-634; 500600, 430-571 600-700, 380-465; 700-800, 340-375; 800 and over, 310-345.

Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 455-635; 400-500, 400-525; 500600, 332-492; 600-700, 335-393; 700-800, 315-381; 800 and over, 270-316.
